From Pageant Queen to Tamil Cinema: The Unstoppable Rise of Nisha Kumar

Nisha Kumar has spent the last decade proving that she cannot be boxed into a single category. From dominating beauty pageant stages in Malaysia to becoming a beloved television star in Singapore, her journey is a testament to versatility. Now, the multi-talented actress has her eyes set on her biggest stage yet: Tamil cinema.

Born in Klang, Selangor, Nisha originally pursued a degree in Physiotherapy at MAHSA University. However, the entertainment world soon came calling. She made waves in the pageant circuit, securing the Miss Malaysia Pancontinental title in 2015, reaching the top 10 of Miss Universe Malaysia the same year, and earning a Miss Heritage finish at Miss Earth Malaysia in 2014.

But Nisha was never going to stop at modeling. In 2015, she made a seamless transition to the small screen, debuting in the Mediacorp Vasantham drama Ragasiyam in Singapore. Over the years, she has built a formidable acting portfolio, starring in hit shows like Yaathumaagi, Kavasam, and Uyire. Her fluency in Tamil, English, and Malay has allowed her to effortlessly cross over into English productions on Channel 5 and Malay dramas on Channel Suria.

Refusing to stick to just one lane, Nisha has also maintained a highly successful commercial modeling career—fronting campaigns for global giants like Ford, Shell, and KFC. She even added “TV Host” to her resume, presenting Udhayam Season 5 and the online cooking show Aha Samayal.

Her undeniable talent has consistently been recognized by critics and fans alike. In 2024, she took home the Best Supporting Actress award at the Pradhana Vizha awards, and most recently, she was crowned Most Popular Artiste in early 2026.
