Following “Varisu,” Vijay allegedly cast Lokesh Kanagaraj in his upcoming movie. The film, tentatively titled “Thalapathy 67,” will be Lokesh and Vijay’s first collaboration since “Master.” According to rumours, Sanjay Dutt, Nivin Pauly, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and other actors would appear in the mafia drama that is expected to feature Vijay. However, the film producers have yet to make any public statements.

The last movie Lokesh Kanagaraj directed was called “Vikram,” which starred Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil, and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles. The movie grossed more than Rs 500 crores at the box office, and the cast and crew celebrated “Vikram’s” 100th day of production on November 1st, which also happened to be Kamal Haasan’s birthday. After “Vikram,” fans anticipated that Lokesh would continue the nexus between narcotics, law enforcement, and criminals that he created in “Kaithi” and “Vikram.”

In an interview, actor Narain, who had a significant role in the films “Vikram” and “Kaithi,” confirmed that Lokesh’s movie “Thalapathy 67” starring Vijay is, in fact, a part of the Lokesh cinematic universe. He withheld any more information regarding the movie, though. The actor also said that he will not be appearing in “Thalapathy 67,” but rather in Lokesh’s upcoming “Kaithi” sequel, which is a sequel to Karthi’s “Kaithi.” According to reports, the movie’s sequel will start shooting in 2023.

Even though Narain has indicated that the Vijay-starring movie Thalapathy 67 would be a part of the Lokesh cinematic universe, the formal announcement of the cast and crew is yet expected.
