Cobra – Review

Cobra directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu has an impressive storyline, but has it stood up to the expectations of the audience? To know about it, let’s read the review. The movie begins with the introduction of the antagonist Rishi (Roshan Mathew) a young businessman. The Chief Minister of Odisha threatens to shut his business in Odisha and what happens next is the chief minister’s assassination.

There is another high-profile assassination that happens in one part of the world and Interpol officer Aslan Yilmaz (Irfan Pathan) tries to find the criminal. He gets to know through a Chennai-based criminology student and a math lover Judith Samson (Meenakshi Govindarajan) that all these events are related to math theory and the assassin they are looking for is a math genius.

Aslan then lands In India and with the help of Judith, they try to uncover the mystery man behind these assassins. In the meantime, Madhiazhagan aka Mathi (Vikram) is a teacher, and he lives a normal life. Bhavana Menon (Srinidhi Shetty) is a professor and is in love with Mathi but he doesn’t reciprocate her feelings. When Aslan and the team start investigating, all the evidence points toward Mathi. Is Mathi the real assassin or is he being used as a pawn forms the rest of the story?

Performance

1. Vikram steals the show with his exceptional performance. His transformation is amazing and gets appreciation from the audience.
2. Srinidhi Shetty makes a neat debut in Kollywood and she gave an amazing act. Her portions with Vikram are beautiful.
3. Irfan Pathan as Aslan did a wonderful job. He gets a meaty role to play and does it well.
4. Roshan Mathew as the handsome villain delivered a solid performance.
5. KS Ravikumar gets to play a small role and delivers what is required of him.
6. Meenakshi Govindarajan as a student gave her best.
7. Vikram and AnandRaj’s portion is good.

Plus

1. Vikram gave a noteworthy performance; he carries the movie on his shoulder
2. The supporting cast did an amazing job.
3. AR Rahman’s music is good and the accelerating BGM creates hype.
4. Excellent Cinematography. Shows the grandeur visuals.
5. Use of mathematical theories to find out the criminal is impressive.
6. Interesting Interval. You would simply love it.

Minus

1. The length is the major drawback for the film
2. Unwanted romance and long flashback scenes.
3. Film needs to be trimmed to accelerate the scenes.
4. Very predictable towards the end.
5. Climax is poorly written, and could have been handled better.

A commercial entertainer with few logical loopholes that drain our energy towards the end due to its length. Watch it for Chiyaan Vikram
