Movie Details

Thiruchitrambalam directed by Mithran R Jawahar doesn’t have an unusual storyline, we have seen familiar tales before, but the movie still shines and leaves a smile on your face when you walk out of the theatre and it is mainly because of the chemistry shared between the main characters in the film and its simple story. The story revolves around Thiruchitrambalam (Dhanush) aka Pazham who works as a food delivery guy for Doink. He is named after his grandfather Thiruchitrambalam (Bharathirajaa) who is more or less like his buddy. Shobana (Nithya Menen) is his childhood bestie and neighbour. He has a very rough relationship with his father Neelankandan (Prakash Raj) who is a police officer. One day he meets his childhood crush (Raashi Khanna) and falls for her. The rest of the story is all about Thiru’s love life, his beautiful friendship with his childhood buddy and how he mends things with his father.

Performance

1. Dhanush gives another amazing performance. We never get to see the star he is, instead, all we see on screen is Thiru. He carries the role with ease.
2. Nithya Menen is the show stealer. She is phenomenal and her chemistry with Dhanush is refreshing. You will definitely fall in love with her character.
3. Bharathirajaa is brilliant. His one-liners are lit and his portions with Dhanush are well written.
4. Prakash Raj lives the role and does what is required of him.
5. Raashi Khanna and Priya Bhavani Shankar gave a neat performance.

Plus

1. Chemistry between Dhanush and Nithya Menen.
2. The one-liners are lit and situational comedy works out well.
3. Bharathirajaa gets to play a meaty role and his portions are enjoyable.
4. Anirudh’s Music is neat, and the songs are placed well.
5. Heart-warming climax.
6. Dialogues are well written. 90’s kids could relate to most of it.
7. Ilayaraja music references in many places.

Minus

1. Predictable storyline.
2. Stunt Silva’s portion could have been written well.
3. Priya Bhavani Shankar’s role feels like an extended cameo.

A feel-good entertainer. With no mass moments and fight sequences, the film shine like a million star. Watch it with your friends and family.
