Viruman directed by Muthaiyah is a templated rural drama. The story of Viruman begins with Young Viruman attempting to kill his father Muniyandi (Prakash Raj) whom he hates very much for being responsible for his mother’s death (Saranya Ponvannan). Custody of Young Viruman goes to his uncle (Rajkiran) as he opposes going with his father and tells the court that he will kill his father if the latter attempts to get his custody, but Viruman’s 3 elder brothers decided to stay with their father. Viruman grows up to be a fine young man (Karthi) but his hatred towards his father never changed. Both father and son cannot stand each other taking their opportunities to insult one another in any given situation. What happens next is a mix of emotions and entertaining events surrounding the father-son duo and how the son teaches his father that relationship is more important than money forms the rest of the story.
Performance
1. Karthi gives a brilliant performance. He is full of energy and is a delight to watch him in the rural avatar.
2. Aditi Shankar gives a fine debut. She fits well in the rural girl look. Her looks remind us of Priyamani from Paruthiveeran.
3. Prakash Raj is back with a bang. His mannerism and performance are brilliant and he is full of evil.
4. Soori and Singam Puli’s comedy works out well.
5. Rajkiran and Karunas played their part well.
